As the weather is getting colder, your skin is most likely more on the dryer side. So, how can you combat that and keep your skin hydrated? Find out below!
I remember when I first heard the term "winterize your skin". I thought to myself what does that even mean? At the time, I was young. I didn't wash my face, let alone have a solid skincare routine. Which by the way, if you don't have a skincare routine, let me help you. I avoided scrubs, lotions, and all the things. In my defense, I have horrible allergies, so I avoided a lot of products.

Fast forward to today's day and age. I load up on the lotions, scrubs and everything in between, because I've found products that work for me. I hope with me sharing these products, it can help you to winterize your skin, and feel better about the colder weather coming.
1.) Exfoliate your skin. I'm talking head to toe exfoliation. Of course you exfoliate your face weekly. But what about your body? Finding the perfect sugar scrub is essential. This one is a coconut oil scrub with over 2500 reviews! Another great option is this Himalayan Salt Scrub! My all-time favourite face scrub, is this natural exfoliating powder! One last option is this Home DIY Sugar Scrub! Y'all. if you try this, your skin will thank you, and if you're already using essential oils, then I'm sure you have all the ingredients on hand too! Thanks to my friend on Instagram, Maria, for the recipe!
What you'll need: -2 cups granulated sugar
-1/2 cup coconut oil
-20 drops of essential oils (She recommends 10 drops lavender, and 10 lemon) I can't use lavender, and didn't have lemon, so I switched it up, to peppermint, and stress away and it turned out great! I also used 10 drops total, rather than 20. *Mix all ingredients together, and seal in a tight container. (glass preferred). Tag us both over on IG if you try it out! 2.) Moisturize! After removing all of that dead skin through exfoliation, it is so important to replenish your skin with an excellent moisturizer. I love this one from Mary Kay. It hydrates for 24 hours, and has such a nice, soft, luxurious texture. Plus, it smells incredible. This is another great option that hydrates for 24 hours as well. It smells more "floral", and the consistency is more thin. So if that's the texture you prefer, I highly recommend this one instead. Another fantastic tube of joy, is this pink stuff. In my house we call this stuff magical. If you get dry, cracked feet, this stuff will be your new BFF. I have applied it all over the skin too as I get SUPER dry! Try it out for yourself - you won't be disappointed.
3.) AMP IT UP!
Did you know that when you apply your lotions immediately out of the shower / tub, it adds INSTANT hydration? Amp up your body lotions in the winter by applying it immediately out of the shower while your skin is still damp.
Another way to amp up your lotion is to add an oil to it for extra softness. I love this one because it smells freaking amazing.
On another shower note: try to turn down the heat! It dries out the skin even more.
4.) Use SPF!
I know it seems like during the colder months, why would you need to wear SPF? The sun still shines and the harmful rays blast through the clouds, even on the cloudiest days! So make sure you're still applying your SPF. I love this day cream with an SPF of 30. There's two options depending on your skin type. So make sure to choose the proper one for you, if you decide to go with that one.

I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to winterize your skin! I'll exfoliate my body, and take extra care of myself for my Self-Care Sunday Routine! Stay tuned for that, as I'll be sharing it soon.
